Grey Melange Yarn for Circular Knitting
For circular knitters, a grey melange polyester yarn delivers an even heather-grey across the whole roll without piece-dyeing. Here is how ours behaves on circular machines and how to spec it for different fabrics.
Why filament melange works on circular machines
- Consistent denier, knot-free running. A continuous polyester filament feeds smoothly at speed, so you get fewer stops and a uniform loop.
- Even heather across the roll. Because the grey is built into the yarn by combining filaments — not applied afterward — the tone stays consistent from the first course to the last, lot to lot.
- One base, many fabrics. The same grey melange suits single jersey, interlock, rib, French terry and fleece, so you can standardise on a single dependable heather base.
Choosing denier for the fabric
- 70D–100D for fine single jersey and lightweight tops.
- 120D–150D for interlock, terry and fleece, where you want more body.
We set the combined-filament construction — DTY+FDY or DTY+DTY (see DTY vs FDY vs POY) — to the fabric: a textured DTY adds softness and bulk for hand-feel, while an FDY end adds strength. If you are unsure which denier suits your machine gauge, the denier guide explains the trade-offs.
